State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics (SOED) in Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO) is seeking for passionate graduates in physical / biological / fishery oceanography and related field. Competitive salary and benefits will be offered.


Recruited Postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to conduct research in the following fields: 1) developing advanced coupled biological-physical modeling in Chinese Marginal Seas, Pacific, Indian Ocean, Arctic and Antarctic Ocean; 2) developing and deploying BGC-Argos in the Northwestern Pacific Ocean; 3) investigating the impact of climate change on primary production in Pacific, Indian Ocean, Arctic and Antarctic Ocean. The postdoctoral fellow will also be encouraged to investigate other related topic based on their own research interest.


SIO is a world-class research institute with a mission to understand the oceans, atmosphere and earth for the benefit of society and the environment. SOED is the only state key laboratory focusing on developing new technologies to study ocean dynamics and environment. More than 100 scientists are working in the lab focusing on technology and application of remote sensing, investigating oceanic dynamics, and understanding global circulation and climate change.


Per Postdoctoral appointment policies, all positions are envisioned as being for 2-year, with possible opportunity to switch to permanent position depending on performance. Start dates are flexible and the competitive salary and research funds will be offered.




Qualified applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Oceanography or a related field with strong background in physical / biological / fishery oceanography. Background and expertise in one or more of these following areas will be considered when selecting the candidates: regional ocean modeling, ecosystem-physical ocean models and bio-Argo technology. Applicants should be able to work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment involving code development and data analysis.
